Wander through its grand courtyards and impressive gates, admiring the intricate stonework and the sprawling gardens that have stood for centuries. From the Red Fort, take a short drive to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, where you can marvel at its towering minarets and expansive courtyard. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb the mosque’s southern minaret for a panoramic view of the bustling city below.

The serene surroundings offer a peaceful break from the city’s fast-paced energy. After this, make your way to India Gate, an impressive war memorial built in honor of Indian soldiers who died during World War I. The monument is especially beautiful in the evening when it’s lit up, but even during the day, it’s an iconic sight, surrounded by lush green lawns perfect for a short stroll.

For lunch, head to Connaught Place, Delhi’s famous shopping and dining hub. Here, you can experience local cuisine at one of the many restaurants offering both traditional Indian dishes and international fare. The early morning light provides a perfect opportunity for stunning photographs and a peaceful atmosphere to take in its magnificence.

Afterward, head to the nearby Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fort that once served as the royal residence of the Mughal emperors. From the fort’s elevated platforms, you can also enjoy a breathtaking view of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River, offering a different perspective of the iconic monument.

Next, visit the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as the “Baby Taj” due to its similarity in design to the Taj Mahal. This smaller, yet equally impressive mausoleum, built by Nur Jahan for her father, showcases exquisite marble work and intricate inlay designs. It’s a peaceful, less-visited site, perfect for those seeking a quieter experience while exploring Agra’s Mughal heritage.

In the afternoon, make your way to Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden across the river from the Taj Mahal. This spot offers stunning views of the Taj, especially during sunset, making it an ideal place to relax and take in the serene atmosphere. The garden, with its lush greenery and reflective pools, provides a tranquil setting for unwinding after a day of sightseeing.
